Step 3. The difficulties to create this product varied. The main difficulties came in the creation of the background. Some difficulties were mistakes that I made that should not have been made, such as having the pages that make up the background in the wrong places so then I had to restart. I think the hardest was making the background look nice and try to make the background look like one piece when it was made up of four smaller pieces of paper. It was difficult to blend the overlapping and connection spots, and it still was not extremely blended. Drawing the map was pretty painstaking and time-consuming. Other difficulties unrelated to the background was deciding what the main pieces should look like, what size, where they should go, and finally putting them in the right order. Along with how the frame had to be duct-taped. These issues were all figured out in time-consuming experiments. However, I would say that the biggest difficulty in the project was the meticulous and long task of cutting the smaller pieces to perfection. In conclusion, the only main issue I had was how long the whole project took.
The Final Project
When creating this I was able to develop higher-order thinking skills. I was able to develop a way to test, analyze, and then make a decision on pieces in the poster that I was ultimately happy with. I was able to describe and analyze character using text based evidence to describe their personality. By creating this project I further developed a skill of organization and planning ahead as the project had to be well organized and planned ahead to create layers that tell the story.
The connection of the project to the novel is understanding the storyline and characters of The Hobbit. By spending time creating the map as a background it provides an understanding of where the adventurers were in their expedition and what their surroundings where like. The character descriptions are affiliated with the novel an understanding of who the characters are, what they look like, what they like, and what they have done is now provided. This project with the character descriptions helps one have a better visualization and thus a lot more understanding out of the book if read or read again.
